Application Engineer (m/f)

OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Application Engineer (m/f) will lead all new product introduction (NPI) processes and ensure a successful on-time process. He/She will lead the NPI to maximize the profitable growth of the Erlangen site in full respect of Morgan’s Responsible Business Program. The Application Engineer (m/f) delivers success in key performance indicators across design, manufacturing processes, safety, quality & cost. He/She plays the key role in connecting the needs of the sales department, production and the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with other departments including manufacturing and quality teams to deliver improvements
• Product cost analysis and price setting
• Ability and desire to see projects through from concept to full profitable production, on time and within agreed budget
• Leading the enquiry processes including engineering and manufacturing feasibility reviews
• Providing the sales department and customers with product and application support
• New business developement pipeline activities including quotation, contract review, development, pre-production and production ramp-up

EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND

• Experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment
• An engineering degree, preferable in material science
• Previous experience of customer care/sales
• Previous experience with change management and new product introduction
• Understanding of ceramic, refractory materials and/or brazing technology would be desirable
• Fluency in English and a good level of German preferred
• Some international travel will be a key part of the role
